The Favor of God

Pastor Alvin Armstrong  /  June 27, 2023

Favor is an area with which every born-again believer has but is unknown to many Christians. I know personally that I’ve said that “I have favor with God” but did not have a good understanding of what FAVOR really meant.

    Def:  Favor = H2580    חֵן   chên     khane

From H2603; graciousness, that is, subjectively (kindness, favor) or objectively (beauty): - favour, grace (-ious), pleasant, precious, [well-] favoured.

Notice that 1 definition for favor is GRACE. Abraham found favor (grace) in God’s eyes, and intercedes for Sodom and Gomorah (Gen 18:22-33)

I never knew that all Favor is – is GRACE……

Abraham found favor (grace) in God’s eyes, and intercedes for Sodom and Gomorah (Gen 18:22-33)

(Gen 18:3 KJV)  And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:

Joseph:

(Gen 39:21 KJV)  But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

Israel:

(Exo 3:21 KJV)  And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: and it shall come to pass, that, when ye go, ye shall not go empty:

  • (Pro 3:4 KJV)  So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.
  • (Psa 5:12 KJV)  For thou, LORD, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.
  • (Psa 5:12 AMP) For You, Lord, will bless the [uncompromisingly] righteous [him who is upright and in right standing with You]; as with a shield You will surround him with goodwill (pleasure and favor).
  • (Psa 41:11 KJV) By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.
  • (2Co 4:18 KJV) While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

There are things that are unseen, and then there are things that are seen.

If you and I stay in faith,

There are things that are taking place in the unseen that will manifest in the seen – When? Very SOON..

  • (Mar 11:24 KJV) Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Something happened in the unseen WHEN you and I  Prayed and believed we received. If you and I  will not give up, we will get what we prayed.

NOTE: All miracles are not instantaneous:

You Already Have God’s Favor

Many Christians believe they have to somehow earn the favor of God, but the truth is, we already have His favor. God saved us because of His favor toward us.

2Cor. 8:7 and 9:8 mentions an interesting statement:

(2Co 8:7 KJV)  Therefore, as ye abound in everything, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.

Receive God’s Favor by Faith

Now you may be thinking, I know a lot of believers who don’t enjoy the kind of favor you’re talking about. Their lives are full of tragedy and disappointment. Why doesn’t God surround them with favor?

God does surround them with favor. They just don’t know it, so they can’t take advantage of what He has given them.

So, where do we get the faith to receive? “Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17, KJV). We find out the truth about God’s favor, goodness and blessing as we hear His Word on these things. Faith comes, we believe and begin to receive what His Word says.

God’s Favor is surrounding us

What we need to do is RECEIVE GOD’S FAVOR, (just like you received Salvation)

(Rom 10:9 , 10 KJV)

Whatever you may be facing today, stand up and get right in its face and say: “I’m a born-again child of Almighty God. His supernatural favor surrounds me like a shield this very moment. His grace is more than enough to deliver me out of this trouble. My faith is in God’s Word, and I’m coming out of this triumphantly by the favor of God!”

Then, begin to expect great things to happen. I can tell you from the Word of God and from my own experience, your life will never be the same when you act like the favor of God is yours!
