Connecting with God through Praise and Worship
Have you ever lost anyone you loved to death, like a parent, child, close friend, etc., and thought about how much you loved them and will miss them? Many of us have and if the truth be told, our first thought is not “praise God”. But we must always remember to keep God first.
It is important to worship and praise God through the good and the bad times. As weird as it may sound, some Christians do not feel praise and worship is something every believer needs to do. But when you know better, you can do better.
· (Jas 4:17) Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Using the word know, this is the know that is undoubtedly in your heart, not your head.
James teaches us, to know what is good but do what is not, is sin. Whether in your thoughts, words, or deeds, it all dishonors the Lord if we don’t do good. This is a plain and simple truth, and we should know if it applies to us. Are we doing what we know to do? If not, I believe if the knowledge of doing good is not in your heart, then spending more time with God is needed… the “know” needs to be in the heart of every believer.
If you do not know in your heart, all this may sound like nonsense because you may only have head knowledge. Knowing with your heart, you do what you know to do because you want to please God.
Head knowledge is a whole different thing because it won’t bother you if you choose not to do what you know you should do. It’s called pleasing the flesh. Does anybody know about that? Of course, we all do.
To have head knowledge about something is not a place to be comfortable when it comes to the things of God. If you are at a place in Christ where you want to please God, you should seek God for understanding because you may be comfortable in sin. (Does this make sense to you?).
Many Christians do not worship or praise God with the knowledge of how important it is. We connect with God and make Him bigger than anything or anyone else in our lives. When we worship and praise Him, we invite His presence into our lives and worship Him in spirit and truth.
Knowing that we are connected can change our attitude and thoughts, and our next step in an important situation may also change. Stay connected to God as you grow in understanding by praising and worshipping Him.
· (Joh 4:24) God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
